Temporarily Slowed Down

Welcome Back, Dear Friends…

It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you. October 10th of 2019, Randy (the Covert Dragon) and I were in a very serious car accident. Miraculously after rolling on the interstate outside of Houston four times at 70mph, we both survived. Unfortunately, Randy was paralyzed on site with a broken neck but we were both taken to a nearby hospital where successful surgery was performed on him. I’m writing this several months later, in late February now, because it has been too overwhelming to process at times. No one else was hurt in the accident, again miraculously, we didn’t hit anyone else even though we rolled in peak rush hour. I have some scars physically and emotionally and Randy is still recovering his full self but all in all, we are doing MUCH better. We have healed tremendously in the last few months, Randy especially. We had to cancel our 2019 tour schedule and have been slow to gather 2020 dates due to the recovery process. We have been able to play some successful shows here and there. I’m able to play and sing, Randy hasn’t recovered his full guitar playing abilities yet but he is showing progress. He is, however, able to sing as beautifully as ever and play on his new handy gut-bucket as well as some bass. We are still open to booking shows and look forward to the beauty and joy that 2020 brings! We do have a lot of new songs in the making, we’re super excited about how they develop. Thank you for your continued love and support, we are always grateful…

Sincerely,

Mariah Dawn Shepherd & the Covert Dragon
